The 2023 Annual International Congress of Chinese Mathematicians kicked off on Jan. 2. The four-day event, with its theme "For Basic Science, Exploring New Frontiers of Mathematics," features about 200 lectures and reports, including some delivered by renowned scientists such as Caucher Birkar, Fields Medalist in 2018, Xiao-Gang Wen and Sergiu Klainerman, academicians of the American National Academy of Sciences, Sijue Wu, member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, Zhang Weiping, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Laurent Fargues, researcher of the CNRS.

Nearly 500 professors, researchers, students, and staff members from YMSC and Qiuzhen College of Tsinghua University, BIMSA, and Morningside Mathematics Center of the Chinese Academy of Sciences gathered at the Huairou to celebrate the end of the year and welcomed the new one. The event reviewed the achievements of 2023, commended the faculty, staff, and students who have made outstanding contributions and looked forward to the future development of the discipline of Mathematics.

Tsinghua Sanya International Mathematics Forum (TSIMF) hosted its 10th-anniversary meeting on December 13, 2023.

The final round of the 2023 S.-T. Yau High School Science Award concludes at Tsinghua University, with a total of 61 awards given.

The inaugural International Congress of Basic Science (ICBS) took place in Beijing on July 16 with a theme of "Advanced Science for Humanity." The conference lasts two weeks, with over 800 top-notch scientists and scholars gathering to discuss frontier research in the fields of mathematics, theoretical physics, theoretical computer and information science.

YMSC Research Team has made important progress in non-visual imaging and published a paper "Non-line-of-sight imaging with arbitrary illumination and detection Patterns" in Nature Communications.

The Frontiers in Mathematical Science conference was held at TSIMF, Hainan Province. More than 100 reports focused on the frontier fields of pure mathematics and applied mathematics. Three Fields Medalists Caucher Birkar, Andrei Okounkov and Maxim Kontsevich made academic report.

The finals of the 2022 S.-T. Yau High School Science Awards were held, with a total of 61 awards. The award was included in the "white list" of national contests published by China’s Ministry of Education this August.

Tsinghua Sanya International Mathematics Forum (TSIMF) launched a new lecture series on the History of Contemporary Mathematicians. Martin Hairer, Fields Prize winner and professor at Imperial College London, John Coates, fellow of the Royal Society of London and professor at Cambridge University, and Wilfried Schmid, member of American Academy of Arts and Sciences and professor at Harvard University, delivered keynote speeches.

2020 Yau Math Talent Undergraduate Program Entrance Examination was held, and 30 excellent high school students were admitted into the program.

The String Math 2015 Conference was held in Sanya. Hundreds of well-known string theorists in the world attended the conference, including Professor Shing-Tung Yau, and Fields Medalist Edward Witten.

Professor Shing-Tung Yau invited an international review panel to review the YMSC's development and lay down its future plan. The panel consists of six world-famous mathematicians: Wilfried Schmid, John Coates, Bjorn Engquist, Clifford Taubes, Jun Li, and Horng-Tzer Yau.

The YMSC Inauguration Ceremony was held.

Some YMSC faculty and staff moved into Jingzhai.

The Ministry of Education officially approved the establishment of the YMSC under Tsinghua University.

Yu Pin was promoted to Associate Professor (tenured) of teaching and research series (the first promoted to a tenured position).

International Conference on "The 60th Anniversary of the Calabi Conjecture: A Workshop in celebration of The 65th Birthday of Shing-Tung Yau" was held.

The 1st S.-T. Yau High School Math Camp was held.

The forum "Face to Face Dialogue with World Leading Physicists: After the Higgs discovery, where is fundamental physics going?" was held. Professor Shing-Tung Yau chaired the meeting and discussed the impact of the Higgs particle discovery on basic physics with eight world renowned physicists.

The TSIMF Facility was inaugurated, Chen Yuan, the then Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, sent a congratulatory letter. The 4th Conference of TSIMF and the Master Forum 2013 was held. Two Fields Medalists, three Nobel laureates, and around 180 international mathematicians, physicists and economists, as well as teachers and students representatives from universities and research institutions, attended the Inauguration Ceremony and the Forum.

Liu Yandong, the then Vice Premier of the State Council, met with Professor Shing-Tung Yau and Nobel laureate David Gross.

S.-T. Yau High School Mathematics Award was renamed S.-T. Yau High School Science Award, adding Physics Award, included by the Independent Enrollment Plan of Tsinghua University.

Professor Shiu-Yuen Cheng and Professor Eduard Looijenga joined MSC as full-time faculty members. Professor Shiu-Yuen Cheng was Dean of the School of Science and Acting Vice-President for Academic Affairs at Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. Professor Eduard Looijenga was a member of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences, and professor of mathematics at Utrecht University.

The MSC signed the Memorandum of Understanding with relevant departments of nearly 30 world top universities and research institutes, including Harvard University, Stanford University, Oxford University, and the University of Cambridge.

Master Memorial Lecture Series was launched, naming after four great mathematicians: Shiing-Shen Chern, Loo-Keng Hua, Pao-Lu Hsu and Chia-Chiao Lin. Top scholars in mathematics will be invited every year to deliver lectures at Tsinghua University.
