Plucker formula, Legendre transformation and categorification

Abstract

Classical Plucker formula relates the degree of the dual curve to the topology of the original curve in CP^2. Dual varieties can be described as Legendre transformation on cotangent bundles on CP^n. Plucker formula can be naturally categorified as how categorical intersection changes under Legendre transformation. This is a joint work with Qing Yuan Jiang and Ying Xie.

Description

Naichung Conan Leung is now Professor of Department of Mathematics and The Institute of Mathematical Sciences at CUHK. He received his PhD from MIT and learned from Professor Shing-Tung Yau. His research interest mainly focuses on Geometry and Algebraic geometry. He was awarded the 2010 Chern Prize for his significant research contributions in the study of mirror symmetry and quantum cohomology and was elected AMS Fellow in 2013.
