Peter Williston Shor is an American
professor of applied mathematics and computer science at MIT. He is a founder
of quantum computation. He designed an
quantum algorithm factoring large numbers, well known as Shor’s algorithm,
which is exponentially faster than best known algorithms running on classical
computers theoretically. He constructed the the first quantum error-correcting
code showing the possibility of fault-tolerant quantum computation. He was
awarded many international prizes, including Nevanlinna Prize,Gödel Prize , Dirac Medal,Micius Quantum Prize.
