Formal arc spaces serve as the setting of motivic integration of Kontsevich, Denef-Loeser. With an eye to some open problems in the field, we will study formal loop spaces in algebraic geometry starting with works of Drinfeld and Kapranov-Vasserot.
Prerequisite: Algebraic geometry
