Description:
In this course we will study several topics involving finite group actions on varieties and their interactions with (and applications to) representation theory: invariant theory, reflection groups, Springer theory of eigenspaces, n! Conjecture, McKay correspondence… It aims to give an introduction to geometric representation theory through a battery of examples, each having its own flavour and interest.
Prerequisite:
Character theory of finite groups, algebraic geometry (first part of Hartshorne’s book is sufficient)
