Description:

This course presents superstring theory as a framework that connects physics and geometry. Its central theme is that compactifying string theory on geometric spaces produces lower-dimensional physical theories, while the resulting physical principles and dualities provide powerful tools for understanding both geometry and physics. The course will illustrate this theme through supersymmetry, Calabi–Yau geometry, mirror symmetry, string dualities, branes, singularities, holography, and constraints from quantum gravity.

Prerequisite:

Basic knowledge of superstring theory.
