TSIMF hosts its 10th-anniversary meeting

Tsinghua Sanya International Mathematics Forum (TSIMF) hosted its 10th-anniversary meeting on December 13, 2023. At the event, speeches were delivered by Professor Shing-Tung Yau, the initiator of TSIMF, Zelin Jiang, Chairman of the 12th CPPCC of Jilin Province and former Secretary of the Sanya Municipal Committee of the CPC, Hongbo Zhou, Member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Hainan Provincial Committee and Secretary of the Sanya Municipal Committee of the CPC, Professor Nicolai Reshetikhin from Tsinghua University, Professor Zhoupin Xin from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Professor Zhengwei Liu, Executive Vice President of Yanqi Lake Beijing Institute of Mathematical Sciences and Applications.

The event was attended by Chen Yuan, Vice Chairman of the 12th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), Chen Xu, Director of the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council, Professor Wilfried Schmid from Harvard University, and Weixue Shi, the Chairman of Guowei Group and the donor of the TSIMF.

More than 150 scholars, professors, and students convened in Sanya to review the remarkable achievements of the past ten years and discuss how Mathematics can contribute to Hainan's scientific and technological advancement in sea, land, and air.

The conference lasted for three days, during which more than 20 top academic reports were delivered by experts and scholars from around the world.

TSIMF was initiated and proposed by Professor ShingTung Yau. With support from Tsinghua University and the Sanya City Government, TSIMF aims to develop an exchange platform for mathematical talents from China, Asia, and around the world. The goal is to provide a conducive environment for innovative research and scientific breakthroughs in mathematics and other disciplines. Located on Tsinghua Road, Tianya District of Sanya, Hainan Province, it is the first high-level academic conference center of its kind in Asia.

After more than a decade of development, TSIMF has held more than 4,300 seminars and conferences, covering Pure Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Theoretical Physics, Applied Physics, as well as other major cross-disciplinary fields. Many distinguished scholars from top international institutions have visited here, including three Nobel Prize Laureates and ten Fields Medalists.
