Beijing Institute of Mathematical Sciences and Applications (BIMSA) is a research institution co-sponsored by Beijing Municipal Government and Tsinghua University, expected to be lauched in March 2020. The establishment of BIMSA is an important part of a national plan to build the comprehensive Huairou Science Center, located in Huairou District of Beijing, in the beautiful Yanqi Lake area where APEC 2014 was hosted. The designated director of BIMSA is Professor Shing-Tung Yau, a Fields medalist of 1982.

BIMSA promotes strong interactions between theoretical researches and practical applications. Presently, it has plans to build 20 research groups covering diverse fields of mathematical sciences. The “advanced cryptography and blockchain program” is one of such groups.
