The talk will start from mapping degree sets and simplicial volumes. We then discuss results of virtual representation volumes, and on which surface separability play important roles. This is a joint work with P. Derbez, Y. Liu and H. Sun.

王诗宬教授1981年获北京大学硕士，留校任教至今。1988年获加州大学洛杉机分校博士。2005年当选为中国科学院数学物理学部院士。现为中国数学会理事长，北京大学数学科学学院教授，长江学者特聘教授，Algebraic and Geometric Topology等五个数学杂志的编委。曾获中国青年科学家奖、求是杰出青年奖、国家杰出青年基金、陈省身数学奖、 国家自然科学奖二等奖。
