60 Years after Calabi Conjecture
In 1954, E. Calabi made his famous conjectures about the existence of the Kahler metric with a given first Chern form, and the existence of the Kahler-Einstein metrics in a given Kahler class on any compact Kahler manifold.
In 1976, Shing-Tung Yau solved these conjectures except the case of positive first Chern class. The solution of the Calabi conjecture by Yau has revolutionized many areas of mathematics including differential geometry, algebraic geometry, as well as string theory in physics. 2014 marks the 60th anniversary of the Calabi conjectures and the 65th birthday of Shing-Tung Yau. We will organize an international conference, "60 Years of the Calabi Conjecture" , from August 4 to August 6 to celebrate the occasion. We will invite world leading experts to survey the past and current developments, as well as the future directions related to the Calabi conjectures.
